Fulvedex Ingredients and Usage

The active ingredient is Fulvestrant, a selective estrogen receptor downregulator (SERD). It is administered as two 5ml (500mg total) intramuscular injections, one in each buttock, given once monthly on days 1, 15, and 29, then monthly thereafter.

Fulvedex is clinically indicated for:

• Hormone receptor-positive metastatic breast cancer in postmenopausal women
• Advanced breast cancer progressing after anti-estrogen therapy
• Combination therapy with palbociclib or abemaciclib for advanced breast cancer
• Patients with ESR1 mutations

How Does Fulvedex Work?

Fulvedex provides comprehensive estrogen receptor blockade through multiple mechanisms:

1. Estrogen Receptor Binding: Binds to estrogen receptors with affinity similar to estradiol

2. Hepatic Impairment: Use with caution in patients with moderate to severe hepatic impairment
3. Bleeding Risk: May increase prothrombin time in patients on coumarin anticoagulants
